About FEUNISHK

About Us

Who is FEUNISHK?

For almost a decade, an affiliated subdivision of the Faculty of Economy of the University of Tirana was integrated at the High Pedagogical Institute of Shkodra. It was on the 28th of May, 1991, that the then High Pedagogical Institute became the University of Shkodra and was named “Luigj Gurakuqi” after an honourable leading figure of the Albanian history who was born in Shkodra.

In 1993 the Faculty of Economy began life and offered solely the business-administration study program, as part of the single Business-Administration department. Formerly, this department operated as an academic unit under the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Shkodra.

On the 13th of May, 1996, the Council of Ministers’ Decree No. 332 accorded to the Faculty of Economy the status of the independent Faculty within the University of Shkodra. In 2000, the Ministry of Arts and Sciences approved the creation of the Finance and Accounting Department. One year later the Department of Marketing and Tourism was also created. It was the newly created Tourism academic program to implement the Bologna Declaration on 2005 for the first time in the history of the Faculty of Economy and this was achieved with the support of the German Rectors Conference.

In 2008 all three departments of the Faculty of Economy launched their Bachelor Degree studies according to the three-year Bologna Declaration system.

Cultural Heritage and Tourism Management, Business-Administration, and Banking Finance were added to the academic programs offered by the Faculty of EconomyIn 2012 three more Professional Master Degree specializations in 2009 the Faculty of Economy launched the Master of Sciences Degree in Stable Tourism academic programme. Two years later, the Master of Sciences Degree in Business-Administration, Finance and Accounting programmes were also launched.

Visit Shkodra

Fototeka Marubi

Within 8 minutes walking distance from the venue

You can visit the renewed Marubi National Museum of Photography famous for its big and rare collection of photos over Albanian history.

National Photo Gallery "Marubi" is located in the center of the town and is the richest and most important photographic archive in Albania.

It contains more than 500,000 negatives, of which the earliest go back to 1858.

Historical Museum of Shkodra

Within 5 minutes walking distance from the venue

Founded in 1949 and based on collections gathered by the Jesuits and Franciscan monks at the end of the XIXth century, the museum is housed inside a monumental XIXth century building, the massive family house of Oso Kuka, a wealthy middle-class merchant.

The house itself is as interesting as the museum: surrounded by fortified walls, the building is a typical merchant’s home, attesting Shkodra significant role as a prime merchants’ city along the ancient trade route between the Mediterranean sea and Kosovo. The Oso Kuka was constructed in 1815 and has been restored to its old state.

Inside, the museum exhibits typically ornate guest rooms, and a basement with a small archeology exhibition featuring an early Christian Plate of David, and artifacts from the Greek and Roman periods. In the garden, you’ll also find a Roman tomb and a Venetian stone well.

Pedonalja - Kole Idromeno street

Within 5 minutes walking distance from the venue

Take a tour at Pedonalja, the so-called Kole Idromeno Street, that represents the very old center of Shkodra, yet very Mediterranean taste passing through mosques and churches.
